Orthopedics

Prices are current as of May 1, 2025.  Prices are subject to review and Horse Sense Vet reserves the right to adjust prices without notice.  Medication and consumable prices are changing more rapidly than ever and we have to adjust as that changes.  We do our best to make our services affordable, but some costs are beyond our control and we hope you understand.

Lameness Exam

A basic evaluation is included in every Wellness exam, however if mobility and pain are a main concern a more thorough exam may be needed.  Often radiographs are necessary to evaluate the concern to check for soft tissue versus boney changes.

Referral

Many times a surgical option is necessary and we refer patients to VSS or WSU for surgical resolution of orthopedics issues. We are able to provide follow up care for pets that have had orthopedic surgery at a specialty center.

Amputation

Amputation of limbs in dogs and cats is sometimes chosen over orthopedic surgery when the injury or condition is too severe, costly, or unlikely to heal well with surgical repair.  We are able to perform these in clinic, however we require an exam to provide an estimate of cost.

Pain Management Protocols

Pain medications play a vital role in managing chronic pain in dogs and cats, offering consistent relief and improving their daily comfort. Regular use under veterinary supervision helps pets maintain a more active lifestyle, reduces behavioral changes caused by pain, and supports long-term health by minimizing the physical and emotional toll of chronic discomfort.
