Wellness Exam

Wellness exams are recommended annually to assess your pet and monitor for gradual changes to condition such as age related changes on an otherwise healthy pet. Early diagnosis of health concerns before the pet even shows outward symptoms greatly aids in treatment and longevity of your pet. These can be combined with vaccines or annual blood work for long term medications.

$65.00

Sick Exams

Sick exams are focused on a particular concern brought by the owner, other problems may be addressed if noted. These appointments may include diagnostics such as Ultrasound, blood work or x-rays at an additional charge to diagnose the issue and medications may also be prescribed at this time. Vaccines are not commonly given during sick appointments.

$65.00

Behavioral Consults

Consults on behavioral issues are available, but requires the Behavioral Questionnaire be completed and returned ahead of the appointment time.  We can address issues such as anxiety, fear aggression, sound sensitivity, among many others. We can assist with medication if warranted as well as discussed training and behavior modification protocols.

$130.00

Second Opinion Consults

We believe that a second set of eyes and thoughts can be useful with many cases and we are open to taking a look at a case that is not responding with the expected treatment. It doesn’t mean that the other vet made any errors, sometimes a different perspective is needed. These appointments are typically longer and the records are required ahead of time to avoid repeating tests that have already been performed.

Vaccinations

  • FVRCP – $30.00
    • The FVRCP vaccine is a core vaccine for cats that protects against three serious diseases: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia. It helps prevent respiratory infections and a deadly virus that attacks the immune system. Kittens typically receive a series of FVRCP shots starting at 8 to 10 weeks old, with boosters given throughout life. This vaccine is essential for keeping cats healthy and preventing the spread of contagious diseases.
  • Felv – $30.00
    • The feline leukemia (FeLV) vaccine helps protect cats from the feline leukemia virus, a contagious and potentially fatal disease that weakens the immune system. It’s especially important for kittens, outdoor cats, or those living with other cats. The vaccine is usually given in a series starting at 8 to 12 weeks of age, with boosters as recommended by a vet. While not always considered a core vaccine, it’s highly recommended based on a cat’s lifestyle and risk of exposure.
  • Rabies – $30.00
    • Rabies is transmitted through saliva from infected animals.  In our local area bats are the most likely transmitters.  This disease can be transmitted to humans through bites or saliva and in both dogs and humans, there is no effective cure once symptoms begin.  This vaccine is legislated by law and the first vaccine is valid for a year and each subsequent one is valid for 3 years if they do not lapse. We require your pets to be up to date on rabies to be seen and treated unless they have a health condition that precludes vaccines.  Those cases are managed on a case by case basis with our doctor.

Parasite Prevention

Parasite control and prevention are crucial aspects of responsible cat care. Cats are susceptible to various external and internal parasites, such as fleas, ticks, worms, and mites, which can lead to significant health issues. Fleas, for example, are not only a nuisance but can also cause allergic reactions, anemia, and the transmission of tapeworms. Internal parasites like roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms can result in digestive issues, weight loss, and even organ damage if left untreated. Furthermore, parasites can easily spread to other pets and humans, creating broader health concerns.

Effective parasite prevention helps ensure the long-term well-being of cats by reducing the risk of infections, promoting a healthier environment, and preventing costly veterinary treatments. Regular use of preventive medications, such as flea and tick treatments and deworming protocols, can significantly minimize the chances of infestations. Keeping cats indoors, maintaining clean living spaces, and regular check-ups with the vet also play key roles in maintaining optimal health and preventing the spread of parasites. Overall, investing time and effort into parasite control not only enhances a cat’s comfort but also contributes to their overall health, longevity, and quality of life.

To help you treat or prevent parasites we offer the following medications:

Revolution

Its active ingredient, selamectin, effectively eliminates these parasites, contributing to your cat’s overall health and comfort. Diagnostic Labwork

Pre-anesthetic blood work is an important step in ensuring a cat’s safety before undergoing surgery or any procedure requiring anesthesia. It helps assess organ function, detect underlying conditions such as kidney or liver disease, or blood sugar abnormalities. By screening for underlying health issues, we can tailor anesthesia protocols to reduce risks and improve recovery. This simple test provides peace of mind and enhances a cat’s overall safety during medical procedures.  We offer the following tests regularly and have many more diagnostic tests available through various labs.

In House CBC

A CBC measures red and white blood cells and platelets, helping detect anemia, infections, inflammation, and clotting issues in dogs and cats. It’s a key tool for diagnosing illness and monitoring overall health.

$62.00

In House Prep Profile

A Prep Profile evaluates organ function by measuring key values like kidney and liver enzymes, blood sugar, and electrolytes in dogs and cats. It helps detect early signs of disease, monitor chronic conditions, and assess overall health before procedures or treatments.

$62.00

In House Comprehensive Profile

As the name suggests this is a more complete full chemistry profile that we utilize for sick, patients in house to get the most information possible in a timely manner to be able to treat sick pets immediately.

$75.00

In House T4/Cholesterol

We primarily use this to monitor pets for hypo and hyperthyroidism once they’ve been diagnosed and are on medication. Typically we use a larger full panel for the initial diagnosis such as a send out though Antech.

$58.25

Dipstick Urinalysis

Basic Urinalysis performed in house that can help diagnose basic urinary concerns such as glucosuria, infections, etc.

$20.00

Send out Fecal

Checks for intestinal parasites in dogs and cats, such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and protozoa like Giardia. These parasites can cause digestive issues, weight loss, and even serious health problems if left untreated. Regular fecal exams help detect infections early, ensuring timely treatment and preventing the spread of parasites to other pets and humans.

Synergistic Therapies

Cold Laser Therapy

Photobiomodulation therapy, also known as cold laser therapy, uses light energy to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and promote healing in dogs and cats. It is a non-invasive treatment that can help with arthritis, wounds, post-surgical recovery, and other conditions. This therapy enhances circulation and cellular repair, providing a drug-free option for pain management and faster healing.

Soft Tissue Surgery -Routine

  • Neuter – $ 100.00
    • This procedure helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces the number of homeless animals. Neutering also offers health benefits, such as reducing the risk of certain cancers and infections, and can curb undesirable behaviors like aggression, roaming, and spraying. Overall, neutering contributes to a longer, healthier life for cats and helps manage the pet population.
  • Spay – $200.00
    • Spaying a cat is the surgical removal of a female cat’s ovaries and uterus, preventing her from becoming pregnant. This procedure helps reduce the number of unwanted kittens and contributes to controlling the pet population. Spaying also offers health benefits, such as a lower risk of ovarian, uterine, and breast cancers, and can prevent dangerous conditions like pyometra (a uterine infection). Additionally, spaying often leads to calmer behavior, reducing the likelihood of yowling and mating-related behaviors.

Additional fees may accrue on these surgeries if the male is cryptorchid (undescended testicle) or if the female is pregnant.  Please contact us to get further information.

Other Surgeries – requiring exam

Soft tissue surgery can go beyond routine spays and neuters, however evaluation beforehand is essential to assess the pet’s overall health, identify any underlying conditions, and determine the safest anesthesia plan. Pre-surgical exams and diagnostics, such as blood work, help minimize risks and ensure a smooth recovery. Many surgeries require follow up and the exam can be a place to ask questions and understand the potential outcomes and complications.
